Tablets containing Fentanyl seized by Whitehorse RCMP

In late April 2017, Whitehorse RCMP intercepted a suspicious package in the Whitehorse area. The package was believed to contain drugs and was destined for a location outside of the Yukon.

Police officers conducted a search of this package and located hundreds of pills believed to be Fentanyl.

Following a thorough investigation into this matter, a male suspect was identified.

The suspect, Jibril Hosh Jibril, 26 years old, was located in Whitehorse on June 30th, and arrested without incident.

Mr. Jibril is facing charges for Possession of a Controlled Substance for the purpose of Trafficking. To date, he has had several appearances in Whitehorse Territorial Court on this matter. He remains in custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for August 17, 2017.

The drugs located inside the package were sent to Health Canada for laboratory analysis. The 535 tablets seized by the RCMP were recently confirmed to be Fentanyl.
