Whitehorse, Yukon

News release

Whitehorse RCMP are seeking additional witnesses and any possible dash camera footage from a suspicious occurrence from October 10th 2017.

On Tuesday shortly after 4:15 p.m., Whitehorse RCMP received a report of a suspicious male that had approached an 11-year-old boy as he exited his school bus on the North Klondike Highway at Stockley Road.

The man asked the youth through an open passenger window, if he wanted a ride. The youth did not engage with the man, and ran home where he told a parent about the incident. One witness report noted the suspicious vehicle may have been following the bus prior to the incident.

The driver is described as appearing Caucasian, in his mid to late thirties, possibly with dark coloured hair.

The vehicle is described as being dark in colour with 4-doors, and may have had a roof rack. The vehicle could be a sedan, SUV, minivan or Hatchback. No licence plate was obtained.

A number of investigational steps have been taken to locate and identify the suspect.

Police are now seeking further information from the public that may help to identify the driver of the vehicle.

If you were driving a vehicle with a dash cam in and around this area on Tuesday, mid-late afternoon, or if you were in the area and noticed a suspicious vehicle, or any suspicious activity, investigators would be interested in speaking with you.
