Update to Monday, July 31 Souris collision

At 1:00 p.m., on July 31, 2017, Kings District responded to a motor vehicle collision on Route 2 in the Rollo Bay Area between a motorcycle and a small car.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 68 year-old man from Laval, Quebec, was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. A 63 year-old woman, passenger of the motorcycle and also from Laval, was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver and lone occupant of the car, a resident of Ontario, did not receive any injuries. P.E.I. RCMP Collision Analyst attended the scene, and received assistance from Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) trained officer to analyze the scene.

Route 2 was re-opened after several hours attending the scene and RCMP thank all drivers who complied with the road closure and detour, and the aid of local Fire and Department and Provincial Government Highway employees in assisting with the road closure.

At this time the investigation is ongoing, and our thoughts are with all persons involved in the collision.
