Seized contraband cigarettes

A 26-year-old man and a 45-year-old man, both from Kitchener, Ontario have been arrested in connection with a seizure of over 113,000 illegal cigarettes.

On November 3, 2017, at approximately 10 a.m., members of the New Brunswick RCMP Tactical Traffic Enforcement Unit conducted a checkstop on Route 2 in Saint-Jacques. During the checkstop, a vehicle was checked which resulted in the large seizure of contraband cigarettes.

Both men were released on a recognizance and scheduled to appear in Edmundston Provincial Court on February 27, 2018.

The investigation is continuing.
