Three people arrested in Deer Lake drug seizure

Corner Brook RCMP have arrested two men and a woman in connection with a drug seizure in Deer Lake.

On September 26, 2017, at approximately 7 p.m., the Corner Brook RCMP Serious Crime Unit, with the assistance of Deer Lake RCMP, executed a search warrant at a home in Deer Lake. A search of the home resulted in the seizure of various amounts of what is believed to be cocaine, crack cocaine, marihuana, cannabis resin, hashish, as well as drug paraphernalia and cash. A small marihuana grow operation was also dismantled which consisted of a number of marihuana plants at various stages of growth.

A 54-year-old man from Deer Lake, a 54-year-old man from Fort McMurray and a 63-year-old woman from Fort McMurray who were visiting from Alberta were arrested at the scene. The two men were held in custody pending a court appearance in Provincial Court on September 27, 2017. The woman was released with a court appearance set for December 5, 2017. One other woman was detained at the scene and released.

Garry Gregory of Deer Lake has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking marihuana, possession for the purpose of trafficking cannabis resin, production of marihuana and fail to comply with an undertaking.

Donald Nichols of Fort McMurray has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine. Veronica Nichols of Fort McMurray has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon.
