News release

Two men and a teenaged girl have been arrested following two thefts on the Avalon Peninsula.

On September 13, 2017, around 12:30 a.m., Ferryland RCMP received a report of a break and enter into a vehicle in Cape Broyle. When police arrived, the suspects had fled the scene.

A short time after, police responded to the scene of a single vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 10 and Horse Chops Road where a car had collided with a tree. The occupants of the car were no longer on scene when police arrived. Further investigation determined the car had been reported stolen from Mount Pearl.

With the assistance of Police Dog Services, a 20-year-old man from Tors Cove, an 18-year-old man from St. John's and a 17-year-old girl of no fixed address were located in a nearby wooded area around 2:30 a.m. All three were taken into custody. They were later released on conditions pending a court appearance at a later date.

The investigation is ongoing.
