Summerside man charged with aggravated assault, Miscouche, P.E.I.

A 22-year-old Summerside man has been charged with aggravated assault related to an incident on October 3, 2017 in Miscouche that sent one man to hospital with serious injuries.

The East Prince RCMP and the PEI RCMP Major Crime Unit began an investigation after being notified by a family member of the victim, during the afternoon of October 3, that an assault had occurred in the early morning hours that same day.

The investigation determined that two men were fighting in the parking lot of the Miscouche Legion. The circumstances leading up the fight are still under investigation. The suspect in the investigation was arrested in Summerside by Summerside City Police approximately two hours after RCMP received the complaint.

On Wednesday October 4, 22-year-old Brandon Butler of Summerside was charged with aggravated assault. He has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance scheduled for later this month in Summerside.

The investigation is ongoing.
