All Sentences now handed down for five people charged in connection to 2015 Baie Verte home invasion and armed robbery

The two adults and three youths who were arrested and charged with Robbery with a firearm, adult forcible confinement and disguised with intent to commit offence have now all been sentenced.

On the evening of November 21, 2015, police responded to a home invasion in Baie Verte. A man had been forcibly confined to his wheelchair, assaulted and threatened by five people. A quantity of cash had been taken. The victim suffered minor injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment.

Court appearances for the five accused have now concluded and have resulted in the following sentences:

· January 17, 2017 in Supreme Court, Maxwell Canning, 22, sentenced to four and a half years in jail.

· August 1, 2017 in Provincial court, Grand Falls-Windsor, Devin Morey, 19, sentenced to four years in jail.

· June 1, 2016 in Provincial court, Grand Falls-Windsor, a male youth sentenced to nine months in jail and two years' probation.

· February 23, 2017 in Provincial court, Grand Falls-Windsor, a male youth sentenced to six months in jail and two years' probation.

· September 19, 2017 in Provincial court, Grand Falls-Windsor, a female youth was sentenced to six months in jail and one year probation.
