Red Bank woman charged in connection with house fire

Sunny Corner RCMP have arrested and charged a Red Bank woman in connection with a fire on August 14, 2017 that completely destroyed a home.

Police were called to a house on Northwest Road in Curventon around 4:50 p.m. When police arrived, the home was fully engulfed in flames. The grass around the building was also on fire, threatening an adjacent property. The Sunny Corner Fire Department were able to put out the fire before it damaged any other property.

A 45-year-old woman was arrested later in the evening in connection with the fire.

Diane Mae Witherell appeared in Miramichi Provincial Court on August 15, 2017 and was charged with two counts of arson, two counts of uttering threats and one count of assaulting a police officer. She was remanded into custody until her next scheduled court appearance on August 16.
