News release

Get involved and be part of the conversation. Your voice matters!

The RCMP in Newfoundland & Labrador is encouraging Newfoundland and Labrador youth to sign up for the 2017-2018 National Youth Advisory Committee (YAC). The goal of this committee is to ensure the voices of youth from across Canada are represented within the RCMP and to assist with developing effective youth strategies and initiatives across the country.

  • Are you in school and between the ages of 13 and 18?
  • Do you have something to say about issues facing young people?
  • Would you like to work with youth from other provinces and territories?

For more information and to request an application please e-mail RCMP.Youth-Jeunesse.GRC@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.

The RCMP National Committee will be in place from September 2017 until June 2018. Each participant is required to spend two to four hours per month discussing youth issues through a moderated online forum. The Committee will assist in identifying issues affecting youth, addressing community concerns and designing initiatives to foster change and address the needs of youth. As a result of participating, you will be eligible for reference letters for:

  • scholarships;
  • employment opportunities;
  • university/college applications; and
  • volunteer hours attained during time spent on the Committee (with the approval of your school).

Most importantly, you will add the voice of youth in the conversation about policing in Canada.

Come discover your potential! Deadline for applications is September 30, 2017.
