RCMP Update on Methamphetamine Seizure

On November 1st, 2017, it was reported that RCMP officers with the Federal Investigative Unit, based in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, assisted by the New Brunswick RCMP Federal Operations Unit East, RCMP Traffic Services, and Richibucto RCMP seized over 50 pounds (23 kilograms) of methamphetamine and three firearms as a result of a traffic stop on October 31st near Richibucto, NB.

The items seized have been further examined, and there were approximately 50,000 methamphetamine pills, along with two rifles, and a shotgun.

A 52 year old man and a 42 year old woman, both from the Moncton, NB area were arrested at the time of the traffic stop, and have since been released from custody.

The investigation into this seizure is continuing and it is anticipated that charges will be laid.
