RCMP seize firearm, cash and cocaine in downtown Yellowknife search warrant

On October 17, 2017, the General Investigation Section (GIS) Yellowknife RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence in downtown Yellowknife, seizing cocaine, cash and a firearm.

by Yellowknife RCMP and the Northwest Territories RCMP Federal Investigations Unit, the search warrant was a result of a short-term investigation into alleged drug trafficking in Yellowknife. A downtown area apartment and a vehicle were searched during the evening of October 17.

Approximately 2 ounces of cocaine, an undisclosed amount of cash, and a .40 calibre handgun were among the items seized.

RCMP arrested three people. Charged are:

Christopher Rumbolt (age 46 – Yellowknife NT)

Controlled Drug and Substances Act s.5 – possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking

Shiane Runcie (age 28 – Scarborough ON)

Controlled Drug and Substances Act s.5 – possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking

Criminal Code s. 354(1) possession of the proceeds of crime not exceeding $5000, s. 86(1) careless use of firearm, s. 88 possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, s. 91(1) unauthorized possession of firearm, s. 95(b) possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition without authorization, s. 129(a) obstruction

Treyvon Stevens (age 24 – Scarborough ON)

Controlled Drug and Substances Act s.5 – possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking

Criminal Code s. 354(1) possession of the proceeds of crime not exceeding $5000, s. 86(1) careless use of firearm, s. 88 possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, 91(1) unauthorized possession of firearm, s. 95(b) possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition without authorization

All of the above males are currently in custody and will appear in court on October 23, 2017.
