On May 24th, 2017, Queens District RCMP executed a search warrant on a residence in the community of Mount Stewart.
The search resulted in the seizure of $10,000 in cash, a quantity of hashish, Methadone, OxyContin and approximately 21 pounds of Marijuana. Police say that the marijuana relates to over 28,000 joints that were destined for the streets of Prince Edward Island.
A 34 year-old man has been charged in relation to this investigation and remanded into custody. He will appear in Provincial Court on June 5th to answer to several drug related charges.
The investigation is continuing.
"Drugs continue to have a negative impact on the people of our Island, removing this amount of drugs will certainly impact the local drug trade," says Cst. Jamie Parsons with the Queens District RCMP.
Police remind Islanders to report any drug activity. Cst. Parsons added, "This is the time of year when people plant marijuana outdoors and we are interested in hearing from anyone that can lead us to these illegal marijuana sites."
If you have any information on individuals or groups involved with illegal activities in your community, you can call your local RCMP Detachment or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
