RCMP looking to identify home invasion suspect

The Northeast District RCMP is seeking information from the public that could help identify a person suspected of committing a home invasion in Chamberlain Settlement, N.B. There is also the possibility that more than one person may have been involved.

On August 8, 2017, the Bathurst detachment of the RCMP received a complaint of a home invasion that occurred between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on August 7.

An unknown person broke into a residence and assaulted the homeowner with a wooden chair. The individual then fled with a large sum of money and a rifle. The victim, an 84-year-old man, was taken to hospital suffering from serious injuries. He was disoriented and only able to contact police the day after the incident.

The investigation is ongoing and police are seeking information from the public that could help identify those who may have been involved.
