RCMP investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision on TCH

Clarenville RCMP are investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision that happened on the Trans-Canada Highway last night west of Clarenville.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. on August 1, 2017, RCMP responded to a serious motor vehicle collision involving a car and a transport truck. The car had been driving east when it crossed into the west-bound lane.

A 25-year-old man, who was a passenger in the car, received serious injuries in the collision and was pronounced deceased at hospital. The 31-year-old male driver of the car was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The 59-year-old driver of the transport truck was also taken to hospital where he was treated and released.

A helicopter was dispatched to the scene to assist with transport of the injured to hospital.

The Clarenville Fire Department and an RCMP Collision Analyst also attended the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
