RCMP investigates Ontario man and woman for multiple vehicle thefts

Lunenburg County District RCMP is investigating a man and a woman from Ontario in relation to multiple motor vehicle thefts throughout Nova Scotia.

On June 22, Lunenburg County District RCMP assisted Bridgewater Police Service in arresting 37-year-old Cory Lee Oickle and 27-year-old Taylor Erin Burgess, both of Windsor, Ontario. They were arrested in Bridgewater and have been linked to thefts throughout the province including Liverpool, New Germany, Lunenburg, Mahone Bay, Chester, Tantallon, Guysborough, Stallarton and Antigonish. They have also been linked to vehicle thefts in Windsor, Ontario. The pair had been stealing vehicles as well as stealing items from unlocked vehicles. At the time of their arrests, they had been driving a 2015 Toyota Highlander SUV stolen from Guysborough.

Some matters are still under investigation and further criminal charges are pending.

Cory Lee Oickle is facing the following charges:

  • Five counts of Theft under $5,000
  • Three counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • One count of Uttering Threats
  • One count of Assault
  • Two counts of Breach of Recognizance

Taylor Erin Burgess is facing the following charges:

  • Three counts of Theft under $5,000
  • Three counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • One count of Assault
  • One count of Breach of Recognizance

Oickle and Burgess have been remanded into custody and will appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on Wednesday, June 28.
