RCMP investigates two fatal motorcycle collisions

The RCMP responded to two separate fatal motorcycle collisions yesterday afternoon.

At approximately 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2017, Holyrood and Ferryland RCMP responded to a single motorcycle collision on the Trans-Canada Highway just west of the Holyrood Access Exit. The motorcycle had been traveling in the West-bound lane.

The 53-year-old male motorcyclist was brought to hospital in St. John's but succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

In a separate incident, at approximately 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, Glovertown RCMP responded to a single motorcycle collision on Route 310, near the causeway on the Eastport Peninsula. The motorcycle had been traveling east-bound.

The 64-year-old male motorcyclist was brought to hospital in Gander where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Investigations into both collisions are continuing.
