RCMP investigate fatal multi-vehicle collision on Northern Peninsula Highway

At approximately 12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 7, 2017, Deer Lake and Rocky Harbour RCMP responded to a multi-vehicle collision on Route 430, south of Wiltondale. The collision involved three motorcycles and a car. Investigators determined that the car, which had been traveling northbound, crossed into the southbound lane.

One of the motorcyclists, a 45-year-old-woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The other two motorcyclists, both men, were taken to hospital in Corner Brook, one with serious injuries. The male driver and female passenger of the car were also taken to hospital in Corner Brook with non-life-threatening injuries. All those involved in the collision are from outside the province.

The road was blocked for a time after the collision and while an RCMP collision analyst assessed the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
