RCMP charges man for driving 162 km/h on Hwy. 104

Yesterday morning, members of the RCMP's Northwestern Traffic Services and Colchester District Detachment conducted a traffic stop for a speeding vehicle along Highway 104. The 44-year-old male driver, who had two passengers in the vehicle at the time, was travelling at 162 kilometres per hour, which is 52 km/h over the posted limit. The driver, who is from Halifax, is facing a charge of Stunting under the Nova Scotia Motor Vehicle Act.

As a result of this charge, his driver's license was immediately suspended for seven days and the vehicle was impounded.

Nova Scotia RCMP Traffic Services want to remind the public that speed is one of the major causes of serious injuries and fatal collisions on our roads. Road safety is a priority for the RCMP, and drivers are reminded to make it their priority as well.
