Prince District impaired driving related court results

Nancy Lee Heffell, a 51 year-old female from the Richmond area was sentenced to 14 days in jail for driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

The incident occurred on the 28th of May 2017 in the area of Traveller's Rest when police were called to the report of a single vehicle crash. Upon arrival the vehicle was upside down in the ditch with the accused still inside. She was also assessed a fine of $ 1,300.00, and received a driving prohibition for 18 months. Ms. Heffell, was permitted to serve her jail sentence on an intermittent bases.

Also, Edward Joseph Perry, a 40 year-old male from the Tignish area was sentenced to 60 days in jail following his guilty plea to care and control of a motor vehicle while impaired.

The incident resulted in a member of the public reporting an unresponsive male behind the wheel of a vehicle in the parking lot of the Palmer Road Church parking lot, in St. Louis. Mr. Perry had in excess of three times the legal limit to operate a motor vehicle and previous convictions for impaired driving. Judge Lantz also fined him $ 1,500.00 and prohibited his driving license for 24 months. Mr. PERRY was permitted to serve his jail time on an intermittent bases.
