Fortune Bridge, Prince Edward Island

News release

Mid-afternoon Monday, July 17, 2017, Kings District RCMP were patrolling the Fortune Bridge area when an officer observed a vehicle driving irregularly.

The officer conducted a vehicle check, and observed that the male driver was under influence of alcohol.

The driver was transported to the Montague RCMP office to provide breath samples. Reading for the samples provided were over three times the legal limit.

The 66 year-old man from Kings County is scheduled to appear in Georgetown Court in August, on charges of Impaired Operation of Motor Vehicle and Over 80 mgs.

Impaired driving is a completely avoidable breach of a driving privilege and a danger to anyone on our roadways. RCMP urge those who are in control of vehicles to not drive while impaired, in any manner, and for those who are aware of anyone who breaches this privilege/law to contact police so that they, the impaired driver, can be removed from the road and charged accordingly. Let's all do our part to stop the choice of driving while impaired on Prince Edward Island and create a safer driving experience for everyone.
