Police in Cumberland County charge three people for drug offences

Two men and a woman are facing drug charges following a two-month investigation by Cumberland District Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU). The SCEU was assisted by Cumberland District RCMP and Amherst Police Department.

A 20-year-old man, a 53-year-old man, and a 43-year old woman, all from Maccan, were arrested without incident in Athol on August 24. Nearly 100 mature marihuana plants were seized, and all three individuals are facing charges of Possession of Marihuana for the Purpose of Trafficking and Production of Marihuana. They were released later that day and are scheduled to appear in Amherst Provincial Court on October 2.

The investigation is ongoing.
