Merchants: the RCMP offers a free workshop on counterfeit money

June 7, 2017
Montréal, Quebec

News release

From June 7 to August 23, an RCMP team assigned to the Merchants against Counterfeiting program is offering a free workshop to raise awareness about this issue. This is an excellent opportunity for merchants and professionals in Quebec to learn more about the security features of polymer and other Canadian banknotes.

The workshop provides information on the various preventive measures and resources available to detect counterfeit money. Our team will visit businesses to present this thirty-minute workshop. The team also holds information kiosks at various public events, such as fairs or festivals, as well as in markets, and distributes educational material to participants and visitors. All our services are offered in both English and French.

This workshop was developed in collaboration with the Montréal RCMP Financial Integrity Team, the Bank of Canada and the U.S. Secret Service.

Merchants can obtain more information by contacting the RCMP by phone at 1-800-771-5401 or by e-mail at cdiv.communications@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
