Miramichi, New Brunswick

News release

A 26-year-old Miramichi man has been sentenced to six months in prison for breaching a probation order in connection with a criminal sentence for possession of child pornography.

Timothy Robichaud was convicted in 2016, and was prohibited from communicating with children under the age of 16. In February 2017, an investigation led by the RCMP's Internet Child Exploitation Unit with the assistance of law enforcement authorities in the United States showed that Robichaud was communicating online with an underage boy in the United States. That investigation led to new charges.

In April, Robichaud pleaded guilty to two charges, failure to comply with a prohibition order and failure to comply with a probation order.

On May 24, 2017, he was sentenced to 6 months in prison.
