Man facing attempted murder charge following Haines Junction incident

On Saturday, September 9th, 2017 around 8:00 a.m., Haines Junction RCMP were called to the Haines Junction Health Centre, where a 53-year-old man was being treated for injuries believed to have been caused by a firearm.

A suspect was identified and located shortly after the incident was reported.

Lucky Alex Jackson, 57 years old, was arrested by Haines Junction RCMP and is facing the following charges under the Criminal Code:

  • Attempt murder;
  • Uttering Threats;
  • Assault with a weapon;
  • Pointing a Firearm;
  • Discharging a firearm with intent to wound;
  • Impaired operation of a motor vehicle;
  • Impaired over 80.

He is also facing the following charge under the Motor Vehicles Act:

  • Driving while disqualified.

Mr. Jackson appeared in Whitehorse Territorial Court on Sunday, September 10th.

He is currently in custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for Monday, September 11th.
