Man charged in connection to theft of firearms

A 26-year-old Perth-Andover man has been charged related to break and enter and the theft of firearms.

On April 25, 2017, police responded to a residence in Perth-Andover which had been broken into and had seven firearms stolen.

On May 8, 2017, a Clearview, N.B., residence was broken into by a man armed with a firearm. He was arrested at the scene and taken into custody. Mackenzie O'Keefe, 20, is charged with numerous offences in relation to this incident.

The ensuing police investigation determined that the firearm used in the May 8 break and enter was one of those which had been stolen from Perth-Andover. This information led to the arrest of the 26-year-old Perth-Andover man for the break and enter and of firearms.

Jordan Rideout appeared in Woodstock provincial court on May 19, 2017. He is charged with:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of a Weapon Obtained by Commission of an Offence
  • Break and Enter to Steal a Firearm
  • Trafficking in Property Obtained by Crime

Following his court appearance, Rideout waived his bail hearing and was remanded into custody. He will appear in court again on May 30, 2017. MacKenzie O'Keefe will appear in court again on May 31, 2017.

Police are continuing to investigate and are attempting to determine the whereabouts of the six other stolen firearms.
