Man charged with arson

A 20-year-old man from Kent Junction has been charged following an early morning fire.

On June 28, 2017, around 3:15 a.m., RCMP responded to a report of a house fire on Route 126 in Kent Junction. Four people were home at the time. The fire was extinguished by the Rogersville Fire Department. No one was injured. The house sustained minor damage, but a nearby shed on the property was completely destroyed.

An investigation into the fire led police to believe it was suspicious in nature. Around 4:15 a.m., a man was arrested.

Daniel Duguay of Kent Junction appeared in Moncton Provincial Court on June 28, and was charged with arson. He has been remanded in custody pending a court appearance on June 29 at 1:30 p.m.

Police do not believe this incident is related to other suspicious fires in the area. RCMP and the Fire Marshal's office are continuing to investigate.
