Lunenburg District RCMP arrest man on Canada wide warrant

Around 2:30 a.m. on June 26, Lunenburg District RCMP received a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Hwy 103. RCMP officers quickly located and stopped the vehicle between Exits 11 and 12.

The driver provided a false name and stated he did not have any identification however, officers were able to determine he was 51-year-old Paul Michael Lucas of Halifax. Lucas was wanted on a Canada wide arrest warrant issued by Correctional Services Canada for a parole violation. Following a search of the vehicle, a quantity of pills was seized and Lucas was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle while Impaired by Drug and Obstruction of Justice. Further charges are pending.

Lucas was held in RCMP custody and taken to Bridgewater Provincial Court for the parole violation. He will be transferred into the custody of Correctional Services Canada.

Lucas is scheduled to appear at Bridgewater Provincial court on July 19, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. to answer to the impaired driving and obstruction charges.
