Lloydminster RCMP - shots fired during police investigation – Update 1

On Sept. 27, 2017 at approximately 4:40 p.m., Lloydminster members were involved in an investigation where they attempted to stop a vehicle. The suspect vehicle fled from police and was involved in a collision with a civilian vehicle.

Two suspects fled from the vehicle. One suspect was apprehended by police after a short foot pursuit. While armed with a firearm the second suspect attempted to gain entry into an occupied civilian vehicle. Responding members engaged the second suspect which resulted in the suspect sustaining injuries. He was taken via EMS to a local hospital and then transferred via STARS to an Edmonton Hospital where he remains with serious injuries in police custody. No one else was injured.

Cameron Hugh Green**, a 29-year-old from Calgary, has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Robbery with a firearm
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Assault police officer
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of stolen property
  • Possession with dangerous purpose
  • Possession firearm without license
  • Possession of firearm while prohibited
  • Flight from police
  • Dangerous driving

A court date has not been set.

Steven Daniel Vu**, a 30-year-old from Sherwood Park, has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Possession of stolen property
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Obstruction

He was released after a judicial hearing with conditions and is set to appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court on Oct. 16, 2017

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) currently is investigating the police involved shooting.

As this matter remains under investigation no further information is available. However, should new information warrant disclosure to the public, it will be done by way of an updated media release.
