Laser affects aircraft over Brackley

On Sunday, July 16th, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Queens District RCMP received a complaint that an inbound commercial aircraft was affected by a green laser as it flew over the Brackley Beach area of Prince Edward Island.

The pilot was able to land the plane without incident at the Charlottetown Airport despite the green laser shining into the cockpit for approximately 5-10 seconds.

RCMP remind the general public that shining any laser at an aircraft is a serious Federal offence where offenders could be charged under the Aeronautics Act and face up to $100 000 in fines and/or 5 years in prison.
