Southwest Nova District RCMP is pleased to announce Sergeant Mike O'Callaghan as the new Detachment Commander for Shelburne Detachment.

Sgt. O'Callaghan joined the RCMP in 1996 from Cape Breton and he has worked in many roles in his 20-year career in the RCMP. His postings have brought him full circle - his first posting after completing Cadet Training in Regina was Shelburne Detachment. Since then, he has worked General Duty policing, Federal Policing (Drug Enforcement), and Integrated Border Enforcement during his service. He has worked as a General Duty supervisor for the last several years. Sgt. O'Callaghan values personal and RCMP involvement in the areas where he has lived and worked. He has coached hockey for many years and remains very active in his community.

As Detachment Commander, Sgt. O'Callaghan looks forward to working with the community to identify and implement the local policing priorities. He plans to work closely with town councils of Shelburne and Lockeport, the Municipality of the County of Shelburne, and the many service providers in the community.

Sgt. O'Callaghan would like to encourage open discussion with members of the community and its stakeholders, to allow them to discuss their policing concerns. "My door is always open", says Sgt. O'Callaghan. "Stop by the detachment and say hello."
