Hopedale RCMP charge man for drug trafficking

Hopedale RCMP have arrested one man from Hopedale in relation to a drug trafficking investigation under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act that was initiated at the local airport.

On November 13, 2017, Hopedale RCMP initiated a drug investigation at the Hopedale airstrip after receiving information of a suspected package containing marihuana. Officers seized the package and received judicial authorization to open the package and view its contents which contained a quantity of cannabis marihuana. The package was enroute for the community of Natuashish.

As a result after the investigation, a 26-year-old man from Hopedale was arrested and charged. He has been released and is scheduled to appear in Hopedale Provincial Court on January 30, 2018.
