News release

On September 10, 2017, Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP received a call from a woman advising her that husband was in possession of a rifle and cherry bombs. The man was threatening to drive around and throw bombs at random people until he was stopped by police.

Police responded and arrested 54-year-old Nelson Hillier, charging him with a number of offences, including uttering threats against a person. He was remanded into custody and will appear in court today.

Upon further investigation, Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP determined that the complainant had made up the initial threat, and today charged 44-year-old Jody Blake with public mischief. She was released and will appear in court on December 12, 2017. The uttering threats charge against Mr. Hillier has been dropped.
