News release

Halifax District RCMP is investigating a serious collision.

Prior to noon on Tuesday, RCMP responded to a single-vehicle collision on the St. Margaret's Bay Rd. in Lewis Lake. A 52-year-old man from Beaverbank, the driver and lone occupant, was ejected and pinned under the car. EHS and Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency were able to remove the man from under the car where he was transported to the QEII in Halifax with serious injuries.

Initial investigation determined the 2008 Honda Accord was observed driving at a high rate of speed and passing vehicles prior to entering the ditch. The driver is also being investigated for a theft from a local business that took place prior to the collision.

An RCMP Collision Analyst attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
