Halifax District RCMP arrests youth following weapons complaint near school

Just after 12:30 p.m. yesterday, Halifax District RCMP responded to a complaint of two youth observed with what appeared to be a handgun in a wooded area, near Eastern Passage Education Centre.

The school immediately implemented hold-and-secure status while RCMP searched the area to locate the youth. One male youth was located and arrested at the school, and RCMP determined the firearm was a BB gun. The second youth has been identified as well. The investigation is continuing.

Halifax District RCMP would like to commend the school staff and students for their cooperation during the lock-down procedure.
