The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) are teaming up to provide community relations services until the presentation of the G7 Summit in June 2018. Four Community Relations Officers are now on site on a full-time basis in La Malbaie. They are part of the Integrated Security Unit, which was formed to arrange and provide for security during this event.

The role of these officers is to ensure regular and transparent communications with the residents, merchants, elected officials and regional community and social groups.

A community relations component is essential to planning a major event like the G7 Summit. It enables police to maintain close contact with the public for a positive, safe conduct of operations during the event.
