Fraud investigation results in two people being charged

A 39-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman have been charged and remanded in custody following the arrest by Sussex RCMP of three people in connection with a fraud investigation.

Troy Cloutier and Bailey Ann Brassard, both from Edmonton, Alberta, appeared in Saint John Provincial Court on September 27, 2017 and were both charged with fraud and obstructing a police officer. Cloutier was also charged with possession of stolen property, possession of marijuana and fleeing from police. They have been remanded in custody until their next court appearance is scheduled for October 2.

A third person, a 42-year-old New Brunswick man, was released from custody with a promise to appear in court at a later date.

The RCMP investigation was the result of several complaints relating the fraudulent use of credit cards in Saint John, Grand Bay-Westfield, Oromocto and Sussex.
