Five charged following home invasion

Two men and three 17-year-old boys have been charged in connection with a home invasion at a home on Eel Ground First Nation, N.B.

On August 22, 2017, shortly after 5 p.m., police responded a home invasion on the Eel Ground First Nation. A man inside the home had been assaulted and threatened by five people, and a quantity of cash had been taken. The man sustained minor injuries. He was the only one in the house at the time.

Later that same evening, two people were arrested on Metepenagiag First Nation and a third in the Miramichi area. Two others were arrested the following day, also in Miramichi.

Christopher Thomas O'Keefe, a 19-year-old man from Oakland, N.B., was charged with break and enter, theft under $5,000, and failure to comply with an undertaking. He was released pending a court appearance on September 8, 2017.

Bowen Genova, a 19-year-old man from Metepenagiag First Nation, has been charged with break and enter, assault, uttering threats and failing to comply with an undertaking. He was released pending a court appearance on October 2, 2017.

A 17-year-old boy from Miramichi has been charged with break and enter, assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats and failing to comply with an undertaking. He was remanded in custody pending a court appearance on August 25.


A 17-year-old boy from Eel Ground First Nation has been charged with break and enter, theft under $5,000, assault, uttering threats and failing to comply with a probation order. He was released pending a court appearance on September 8, 2017.

A 17-year-old boy from Metepenagiag First Nation, N.B. has been charged with break and enter, uttering threats, assault and failing to comply with a probation order. He has been remanded pending a future court appearance.

The investigation is continuing.
