At 1:30 a.m. this morning, Springhill RCMP were called to the scene of a single vehicle collision on 142 Highway (Connector Road), just outside Springhill. Early investigation shows that a pickup truck lost control and drove off the highway and ended up at the bottom of the ditch where it struck trees. EHS attended and pronounced the lone male occupant deceased at the scene.
An RCMP Collision Analyst was called to examine the scene for evidence. 142 Highway between Exit 5 at the Trans Canada Highway and the #2 Highway is closed and traffic is being re-routed around the accident scene. The Highway is expected to be closed for 4 to 5 hours. DOT are assisting with the highway detour.
The investigation is ongoing.
