Off duty officer alerts RCMP of impaired driver

On Thursday, December 7th, 2017, shortly after midnight, an off-duty member of the RCMP contacted the East Prince Detachment to advise that he was following a vehicle on Route 1, near Tryon, and believed that the driver may be impaired.

Later, the off-duty officer indicated that the driver failed to navigate a turn and ended up driving his vehicle into the ditch. Shortly after the vehicle went into the ditch, officers arrived and arrested the male driver for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

The driver later provided breath samples that were more than twice the legal limit.

A 53 year-old man from Tryon is scheduled to appear in Summerside Provincial Court on February 1st, 2018 to answer to charges of impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle over 80mgs%.
