News release

The Southeast District RCMP have completed their investigation into the crash that claimed the life of Nova Scotia RCMP officer, Cst. Frank Deschênes, on September 12, 2017 in Memramcook, N.B.

Southeast District RCMP conducted a thorough investigation to gather evidence and determine what took place with assistance from an RCMP collision reconstructionist. The investigation found there was not enough evidence to proceed with charges under the Criminal Code of Canada.

31-year-old, Vasiliy Meshko from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, USA, has been charged under the New Brunswick Motor Vehicle Act for driving without due care and attention and failing to move over.

He was represented by his lawyer in Moncton Provincial Court on December 14, 2017 and requested an adjournment to December 15 to enter a plea.
