Driver arrested, teenaged girl seriously injured in car crash

A 19-year-old man has been arrested following a car crash that seriously injured a 17-year-old girl.

On November 21, 2017, around 11:20 a.m., the Southeast District RCMP, Sussex Detachment, responded to a single vehicle crash on McLeod Avenue in Sussex. Police determined the girl was on the hood of the car when she fell off and was struck by the vehicle, and became trapped. She was rescued by the Sussex Fire Department and taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the car was arrested at the scene and released pending a future court appearance.

A traffic reconstructionist attended the scene. The investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing.
