Halloween is traditionally an evening for children and those young at heart to enjoy dressing in costume and visiting homes to gather all sorts of treats and well wishes.
Unfortunately, some people feel this is also the season to deliberately set fires, destroying property and endangering the lives of those who have to attend these senseless crimes.
Prince District RCMP have been working with local fire departments and the Fire Marshal's office on a pro-active approach regarding arson occurrences and police will be conducting strategic patrols, especially tonight, Halloween, to stop this activity. Those who set fires can expect to be charged.
Police will be conducting strategic patrols in the coming weeks, in a collaborative effort to decrease arson activity with a focus on western P.E.I. where the issue has been a problem historically.
