Crime Stoppers Crime of the Week: Suspicious Fires

October 30, 2017
Richibucto, New Brunswick

News release

Crime Stoppers and the Southeast District RCMP are asking for your help in solving a series of suspicious fires that have occurred since September 2014, in several communities served by the Richibucto, Bouctouche and Elsipogtog detachments of the RCMP.

More than 80 fires that occurred between September 2014 and September 2016 were determined to have been deliberately set. About half of the fires have targeted abandoned or vacant residences, cottages, trailers and vehicles, and have happened at night. The remaining fires have involved other structures and properties, such as businesses and inhabited residences that were not occupied at the time of the fires. No injuries have been reported in connection with the fires.

The RCMP is committed to identifying those responsible for these fires, and information from the public can play an important role in helping to solve these crimes.

If you have any information about these suspicious fires or those responsible and wish to remain anonymous, please contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-tips (8477), by texting TIP212 + your message to 'CRIMES' (274637), or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca. Your anonymity is guaranteed. We want your information, not your name. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for this crime.
