News release

A man and woman from Ontario are facing numerous charges, including production of methamphetamine and possession of stolen property, after RCMP arrested them in Fundy National Park.

On the night of June 11, police responded to reports of a domestic dispute happening at a cottage. Investigation revealed that the couple were in possession of a stolen vehicle. They were arrested on the morning of June 12, at which time a search of the vehicle revealed them to be in possession of numerous stolen goods including identification cards, credit and debit cards and other items. Police also discovered drugs and items used in producing illicit drugs, which investigators believed to be crystal meth. These items were sent for testing.

On June 13, 32-year-old Corinda Belanger and 39-year-old Marco Grenier appeared in Moncton provincial court and were charged with possession of stolen property and breach of probation. Grenier was also charged with breach of a court order.

The investigation continued and lab tests confirmed the drugs seized to have been methamphetamine. Further stolen property was also discovered among items seized in a search of the vehicle.

On June 20, the two were charged with production of methamphetamine and six further counts each of possession of stolen property.

Belanger and Grenier remain in custody and are scheduled to appear in court again on June 21, at 1:30 p.m., for a bail hearing.

The investigation continues.
