Corner Brook RCMP is investigating the drowning of a 28-year-old man at Pinchgut Lake.
Shortly after 6:00 p.m. on August 3, 2017, RCMP responded to a call of a boating accident on Pinchgut Lake, west of Corner Brook, N.L.
Preliminary investigation revealed that several people were out on the lake when one of their rafts became deflated. A 28-year-old man became distressed and was unable to swim to the shore.
Bay of Islands Ground Search and Rescue attended the area with a watercraft and began a search of the lake. Residents with boats and a float plane assisted the search.
At approximately 7:00 p.m., the man's body was located. The cause of death is currently under investigation. Police do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor in this incident.
