Cole Harbour man wanted for murder extradited back to Canada

44-year-old Steven Douglas Skinner was extradited back to Halifax, Canada from Caracas, Venezuela, on June 17, 2017.

In July 2011, police issued an international arrest warrant for Skinner on the charge of second-degree murder in the death of Stacey Adams. Adams was found dead at a Lake Echo home in April 2011.

Skinner was arrested by police on Margarita Island, Venezuela, without incident on May 15, 2016.

Police have been working with authorities on the extradition process for the past year.

In addition to second-degree murder in the death of Stacey Adams, Skinner faces charges in relation to an incident in Lower Sackville on July 22, 2009. These charges include aggravated assault, forcible confinement, assault with a weapon X2, uttering threats X2 and possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose. Skinner was arrested in Ontario on July 25, 2009 and returned to Nova Scotia where he was remanded in to custody on those charges and later released on conditions.
