Colchester District RCMP seeks public assistance with hit-and-run investigation

Early yesterday morning at 1:00 a.m., Colchester District RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Robie St. in Lower Truro. The initial investigation has determined one vehicle struck another vehicle from behind. When the driver of the vehicle which was hit stepped out to speak with the other driver, the suspect vehicle drove towards him, hit him, then dragged him a short distance. The suspect vehicle then fled from the scene.

The driver who was hit was transported by EHS to Colchester Regional Hospital with minor injuries. The suspect vehicle was later located by Colchester District RCMP and the driver was arrested. A 26-year-old man from Bible Hill is scheduled to appear in Truro Provincial Court on August 28. He is facing charges of failing to stop at an accident, dangerous driving, assault with a weapon, refusal to provide a breath sample and impaired driving.

The investigation is ongoing.
