RCMP have executed several search warrants in the community of Behchoko, resulting in seizures of drugs and cash. Northwest Territories RCMP Police Dog Services assisted Behchoko RCMP.
In the early morning hours of June 03, 2017, search warrants were executed at three residences in the community of Behchoko. A vehicle at one of the residences was also searched. Quantities of cocaine, marihuana and cash were seized during the searches. A set of "brass knuckles" and drug paraphernalia were also seized.
Two adult males were taken into custody and are facing charges. A third adult male is being sought by police in relation to this file.

Sonny Simpson, age 30 of Behchoko - Charges of Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA) S. 5-2, Posession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence S.88 Criminal Code and Possession of a prohibited weapon S.91(2) CC.
"This investigation and arrests show that drug trafficking, and the social-ills that accompany it, can be prevalent in any community. The local Detachment members did a great job of dismantling this trafficking network. Drugs destroy communities, and we are committed to taking them off the streets in our communities" said Sgt Scott Young Detachment Commander Behchoko RCMP.
