News release

On July 25, 2017, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) deployed twelve Body Worn Cameras (BWC) to the members of the RCMP who are serving in Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Cartwright in Newfoundland and Labrador (B Division). The RCMP wishes to inform those living in Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Cartwright and surrounding areas that their interactions with RCMP officers may or may not be recorded, (in keeping with the various applicable privacy legislations across Canada).

This is a limited and temporary deployment of equipment to support police operations which also enables the RCMP to further assess the functionality of these devices in an operational environment.
